The Pixel 9a specifically
The 9a is the cheaper Pixel, but eSIM works fully on it. There is no difference between it and the pricier Pixels where eSIM is concerned.
What this means for a non-PTA Pixel 9a
PTA registration applies to local SIMs. eJurs is a roaming eSIM, so no local SIM is involved and an unregistered handset still gets online.
The service is data only — no calls, no SMS, and no Pakistani number. WhatsApp calls, IMO and Messenger all run over data, so those keep working.

Open the dialer on your Pixel 9a and dial *#06#. If an EID appears alongside the IMEI, the phone has an eSIM.
It must also be free of a carrier lock — worth confirming on anything bought second-hand or brought in from abroad.
Installing an eSIM on a Google phone
- Open Settings, then Network & internet.
- Tap SIMs, then the + next to Download a SIM instead.
- Scan the QR code we send you on WhatsApp.

- Turn Roaming on for that line.
